Sydney Water Surf Series

The 2016 Sydney Water Surf Series will be celebrating its 15th year. From humble beginnings, it has developed into a strong based competition series with competitors from all over NSW coming along to race. The series caters for Under 8’s right through to Masters in surf/craft & beach individual events with close to 1200 athletes competing last season in the series.

Sydney Water Surf Series Carnival Dates:

Round 1: Saturday 29 October 2016 @ Warilla SLSC

Round 2: Saturday 12 November 2016 @ Fairy Meadow SLSC

Sydney Water Surf Series: Round 2 Information

Thanks for everyone’s co-operation at Round 1 and thank you to our volunteers, officials, water safety and especially the members of Warilla Barrack Point SLSC for a great carnival.

This Saturday we head to Fairy Meadow Beach. For those travelling down from Sydney, Bulli Pass remains closed, so you will need to come down Mt Ousley.

Find attached rosters and programs for Saturday.  A reminder to the local clubs if you are on wristband duty please be on time (7:00 am for juniors and 11:30 am for seniors).

A couple of housekeeping points for this week:

1)  All handlers MUST wear hi-vis rash vest and competition cap (as per 35th edition of Surf Sports Manual).

2)  Team Managers meetings (7:50 am for Juniors and 12:15 pm for Seniors) are COMPULSORY and will be held on the beach.

3)  It was noted at the Round 1 (especially in the sprint area) that officials/water safety personnel signed on for duty and then did not do their duty.  This will not be tolerated this week. If everyone does their duty, it helps the whole carnival running safely, smoothly and efficiently.  Remember, officials allocated on the ratio of 1 to 7 competitors entered not taken by the number on the beach on the day.

4)  Officials and water safety are to report to the area that they have been allocated at 8:00 am and SIGN ON THERE.

5)  We had some incomplete results from Round 1, please remind your competitors to make sure that if they are placed in the top 8 to have their name and club taken down.

6)  Please remind all competitors to bring their SYDNEY WATER SURF SERIES HI VIS RASH VEST – it must be worn during competition.  If they forgot to bring it along, we will have vests on sale at $20 each.

7)  Late entries will be taken on the day – $85 per competitor which will include entry for Rounds 2, 3 and 4.

Any cancellations/changes in venue will be communicated early Saturday morning through facebook, instagram and emails.  Hoping the weather gods are good to us.

Round 3: Saturday 26 November 2016 @ Woonona SLSC

A big thank you to Fairy Meadow SLSC for hosting round 2 of the Sydney Water Surf Series.  This is the 1st carnival they have hosted for 20 years and I am sure you would all think that they did a great job.  Thanks to Michael Bate, Life Member of Fairy Meadow, for coming down and being carnival referee.

Round 3 heads to Woonona SLSC.  A reminder that Bulli Pass is closed so if you are heading from Sydney, you will need to travel down Mt Ousley and then head north to Woonona or travel down Lawrence Hargrave Drive via Helensburgh.  Allow extra time for traffic etc.

Find attached rosters and programs for Saturday.  A reminder to the local clubs if you are on wristband duty for please be on time (7:00 am for juniors and 11:30 am for seniors).

3)  It has been noted that the beach area is falling short of officials.  Clubs that are rostered are not fulfilling their duties.  If everyone does their duty it helps the whole carnival running safely, smoothly and efficiently.  Remember, officials allocated on the ratio of 1 to 7 competitors entered not taken by the number on the beach on the day!
